Are Colored Contact Lenses Really That Safe?

June 24, 2011 – These days it’s possible to get a variety of non prescription color contact lenses to match any mood that the wearer is in. These are not only safe, but they are very fun. Imagine being able to change your eye color as often as you change your shoe color. This is the benefit of these cool products.

When they first began to be put into production these were only available in the normal color range of human eyes. Brown, blue, and green. Customers soon got bored with only having these options available to them, and soon there were a variety of companies producing these in a huge variety of colors. Now they are even available in prints. There are ones that have animal patterns, peoples favorite sports team logos, and all sorts of other designs that today’s kids love to have fun with.

There have been some questions about the safety of these products. The main reason that they can become dangerous is because of improper use. When a customer purchases a pair of contacts through their optometrist they are given instruction about the safe methods to use these products. The problem with these so called non prescription contacts is that anyone can purchase them on the Internet or in specialty stores. They usually come with a pamphlet on proper care but sometimes these can be ignored by the customer. Standard cleaning rules need to apply to these just as much as they do with regular contacts.

As long as the user makes sure to read all the included documentation in order to use these safely, then it’s possible to have a great deal of fun using these products. Parents that have children interested in them should lay out the rules of their usage so that their children have a safe time while they are having fun playing with a variety of lens styles.
